ABOUT:

Not to be confused with The Adroit Journal founded by Peter LaBerge, the student-run Adroit of ABAC Bainbridge publishes the creative work of--or related to--the community members, faculty, and students of Southwest Georgia region.  

WHEN TO SUBMIT:

Submissions accepted year-round. Creators must be from or living within the Southwest Georgia region or attending Southwest Georgia regional schools.  Submissions from outside this region will be rejected.  

All submissions must be uploaded through Submittable.  We do not accept emailed or hard-copy submissions. You must enter your name and address to be considered.  If your address is outside the region but you attend college in the Southwest Georgia region, include this information in your cover letter. 

PUBLICATION CYCLE:

The journal publishes every twelve to twenty-four months.

SUBMISSIONS:

• poetry, 
• fiction, 
• nonfiction, 
• comics, 
• graphic novellas/short stories, 
• artwork (including digitally-photographed mixed media, textiles photography, painting, pen and ink, etc). 

All submissions must be original.  Works written by A.I. will be declined.  Works composed with A.I. assistance must credit the LLM(s) used and briefly describe the nature and extent of use in the cover letter.

We do not accept previously published work but will consider simultaneous submissions. Please alert us in your cover letter if your work is under consideration elsewhere and withdraw through Submittable immediately if accepted by another publication.  You must have the rights to publish commissioned artwork.

SUBMISSION LIMITS & REQUIREMENTS:

• submissions must be original.
• you must have the rights to publish commissioned artwork.
• creator address (must be from or living within the Southwest GA region, attending a regional school, or writing about the region) 
• cover letter
• up to six poems, photos, or art pieces, submitted separately
• up to three works of prose (fiction or nonfiction) from each author or artist, not to exceed a cumulative total of 6,000 words, submitted separately

COVER LETTER: 

• introducing the creator in one to two sentences
• providing context for the piece in two to three sentences. 
• relevant context may include: process, inspiration, goals, technique, and/or medium.
• any use of LLM in the writing process must be acknowledge and described.

REVIEW PROCESS:

The student staff review process is blind.  Please allow between three to six months for review. You will be contacted by email if your piece is accepted or declined.  If circumstances require an earlier response, please email: emily.dowd-arrow@abac.edu
